Activities
Adjunct Professor doing annual teaching of network & internet security
module for CSC400W and other
postgraduate supervision. Areas of interest are generally security and
network related. Previous and current research areas include security protocol
analysis, biometric authentication, secure GSM transactions, security
in ad hoc networks, digital rights management, secure cloud storage,
anomaly detection in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
and security attack modelling.
Background
Worked for Netsys International, Pretoria
after completing an M.Sc on modelling of adaptive routing in Wide Area
Networks. Studied at the University
of Zürich while working at the IBM
Zürich Research Laboratory. Subject of Ph.D dissertation
was group security in distributed systems. Currently working for T-Systems International in an
international presales management role. Previous roles in T-Systems
have also included Executive for Telecommunications in South Africa
and responsibility for internal IT, corporate security, process and
quality for T-Systems South Africa.
Research Group
Contributor to the Security Lab activities within the UCT Computer Science
department.
